Public service pay gap closing up – MSN

The gender pay gap in the public service fell one percentage point to 12.5 per cent last year compared with 2016, a new report says.

State Services Minister Chris Hipkins says that’s “very encouraging” but the momentum needs to be stepped up.

Minister for Women Julie Anne Genter says the government is working with public sector chief executives “to agree on targets to accelerate change”.

The figures are in the Public Services Commission’s 2017 Human Resource Capability Survey which delves into the workforce across 29 departments.
