New Queenstown housing target set – MSN

The government has signed an agreement with Queenstown Lakes District Council that sets a new target of 3750 new houses and sections by the end of 2019.

The revised Housing Accord aims for 1150 new houses and sections this year, 1250 next year and 1350 in 2019.

Building and Construction Minister Nick Smith says Queenstown is experiencing phenomenal tourism and population growth which is stretching housing and infrastructure.

“These ambitious targets will involve the largest building boom in Queenstown’s history,” Dr Smiwth said on Wednesday.
