Entrepreneur welcomes National policy – MSN

A Wellington businessman is welcoming National’s urban planning policy, saying it will allow for more private sector investment in social housing.

A National-led government will begin reforming urban planning laws, separate from the Resource Management Act, to encourage more responsive planning, leader Bill English announced a week ago.

Fiso Investment Group managing director John Fiso says the current policy settings make it difficult for private investors in social housing.

He cited compliance costs when dealing with government funding and regulation, and local council’s inability to keep up with the associated infrastructure needs.
